As a medical doctor, Amakove sees healthcare as both a professional responsibility and a political priority. She wants women and girls to access healthcare with dignity and respect, with particular attention to maternal health, menstrual health, reproductive health, preventive care, and the broader wellbeing of families.
Her commitment to healthcare has already been visible through practical action.
In 2026, she organised a free medical camp in Hamisi Sub-County that brought together healthcare professionals and partners to provide a range of services to more than 700 people. The camp included maternal and antenatal services, TB screening using portable X-ray technology, HIV testing and counselling, nutrition services, laboratory services, dental and optical care, among others.
The camp also demonstrated her broader approach to healthcare. It was not only about treating patients for one day. It included discussions around referrals, public health, hygiene, and community needs.
At Virembe Primary School, where the camp was held, she noticed that learners did not have adequate handwashing facilities. At the conclusion of the camp, handwashing stations were donated to the school.
Sanitary towels were also distributed to more than 50 girls, reinforcing her belief that health is inseparable from dignity.
